The company

Established in 1976, Raffan Kelaher & Thomas Pty Ltd is a family owned company of Fine Art and General Auctioneers & Valuers. Our auction rooms are in Leichhardt, in Sydney’s inner west.

We offer auctioneering and valuation services to private, corporate and government clients.

Our extensive two-day weekly auctions are well-known and are something of a Sydney institution. We also hold regular specialist sales of

Our auctions are on view every Saturday, between 9am and 12noon, in our Leichhardt auction rooms. Our auctions take place on Mondays and Tuesdays. We accept deliveries on Wednesdays and Thursdays, by appointment only at least 10 days in advance.

As a Member of the Auctioneers & Valuers Association of Australia (AAVA), we adhere to the strictest ethical standards. All sale proceeds are deposited in the Company’s Trust Account and net proceeds promptly paid to vendors on completion of sales.

History

Raffan & Kelaher, affectionately known as “Raff’s”, was founded by Doug Raffan and Jim Kelaher in 1976, and began conducting weekly auctions of antique furniture and decorative arts, in Church Street, Camperdown.

Doug Raffan retired in 1992, when the company moved to John Street, Leichhardt. Phillip Thomas became joint owner in 2005. At this time the company name became Raffan, Kelaher & Thomas.

Jonathan Alford joined Phillip as partner in 2008, on Jim’s retirement from the business.

Jonathan Alford retired from RK&T in 2015 and Phillip’s son, Michael, joined his father as a Director of RK&T.

In 2019, Raffan Kelaher & Thomas moved to new premises at 50-54 John Street, Leichhardt, and the long tradition of auctioneering at Raff’s continues to this day!
